Ignorance

“True ignorance is not the absence of knowledge, but the refusal to acquire it.”

If there’s one thing that keeps on changing, it is time.  It’ll never remain constant. Just like that opinions and beliefs of people keep on changing very frequently these days.

I believe the reason for the change of beliefs and opinions is either ignorance or awareness. We are ignorant to what’s happening around the world, we are ignorant to the person who cares about us, we are ignorant to the great stories of the past, and we are ignorant to the nature and the wonders of our mother earth. When was the last time you saw the sunrise or enjoyed the fresh cold breeze in the morning?  We don’t enjoy or acknowledge the sunrise which takes place daily or the sunset or the fresh breeze in the morning because they take place every day and we humans have always had a tendency to ignore the things that occur daily or in other words they are too common for us to pay attention to. We have even started to ignore the advice of the people who gave us life.

And somewhere as we are transitioning into this ignorance, we have becoming ignorant to ourselves and have stopped caring about what our heart says. We have stopped caring about what we really want.

In the past few years ignorance has been scaling new heights, I can only imagine what the world will be like in the next 2 or 3 decades. Can you?

All the disasters and mishaps are occurring because we are choosing to ignore the things that we shouldn’t. The exploitation of earth, the wasting of time by every individual, the lack of respect for the people who have sacrificed their lives, and the lack of humanity in human beings, is this what we really want? I don’t think so and I believe most of us think the same way. But the way we are living and leading our lives, it won’t be long that there will be chaos all over the world. Confronting the truth is very difficult but one can’t always refrain from facing the reality.

The ill treatment of our planet earth is the reason for the natural calamities and phenomenon such as global warming. Our wasting of time is one of the most important reasons for our failure. Our lack of love and appreciation to our family members and friends sometimes leads to conflicts and hampers our relationship with them. We all had so many friends during our childhood and as we became older and older many of those friends drifted apart from us and we lost touch from many of our closest friends. How many of you even remember the friends you had in your kindergarten and did you ever try to make contact with them once you became old enough to realize the importance of friends?

The pace at which we are going right now and with the same events happening at the same rate, our world will not be the same as it used to be and it would continue to get worse. There will be destruction everywhere in this world. Conflicts among nations will keep on consuming lives and destroying places. Developed and developing nations will keep on exploiting resources and on the other hand the growing population of under developed countries will continue to increase and will eventually lead to scarcity of resources and then will wreak havoc among the people of those countries.

We all know the consequences, Don’t we? But only knowing them won’t help. We human beings are insignificant in this universe. We are yet to find out millions of nature’s phenomena. There are many species yet to be discovered and there are billions of other creatures living on this planet except us. So, who gives us the right to affect their lives in a negative manner and take the only thing which is essential for their survival and destroy the planet as we please? If we move towards that direction we eventually secede from the foundation of existence of human race.

I believe it is time for us all to stop ignoring and start knowing.
